First Gulf Company (FGC) and the Biomedical Engineering Technology Society (BMET) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce the first Certified Healthcare Technology Manager (CHTM) certification pathway in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The agreement was formalized at a ceremony in Riyadh attended by leaders from both organizations.

Awarded internationally by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), CHTM is a globally recognized credential that validates the expertise required to manage the technology behind modern healthcare, the systems and medical equipment that clinical teams rely on every day. Brought to the Kingdom by FGC and delivered together with BMET, the Kingdom’s professional body for biomedical engineering accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and under the supervision of the Saudi Ministry of Health, the initiative makes this standard available to healthcare technology professionals in Saudi Arabia for the first time.

The pathway reflects FGC’s role as a trusted healthcare technology partner and its commitment to developing national talent in line with Saudi Vision 2030. Through FGC’s investment in advancing the capabilities of its Facility Management Division teams, the pathway is being undertaken by local engineers for the first time. It is designed to raise the standard of how healthcare technology is managed and maintained across the Kingdom’s health facilities, strengthening the reliability of medical equipment and, ultimately, the quality of care patients receive.

“At FGC, managing and maintaining healthcare technology is work our teams carry out every day, and we know it is only ever as reliable as the people behind it,” said Karim Dabboussi, Executive Vice President of Facilities Management at First Gulf Company. “By bringing the CHTM pathway to the Kingdom together with the Biomedical Engineering Technology Society, we are investing in Saudi professionals and raising the standard of how medical technology is managed across our health facilities. This supports the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030 to develop national capabilities and strengthen the Kingdom’s healthcare sector, ultimately benefiting every patient who depends on it.”

“This partnership is an important milestone for our profession in the Kingdom,” said Eng. Bandar Fayze Al-Shablani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Biomedical Engineering Technology Society. “Bringing a globally recognized credential such as CHTM to Saudi biomedical engineers strengthens the profession, embeds international best practices in healthcare technology management, and supports Vision 2030 by building capable national talent to care for the technology at the heart of our health system.”

The pathway begins with an inaugural cohort of professionals nominated through the partnership, with further details to be shared as the program progresses.
